Position Mapping
Strategy Explanation: Position Mapping is a strategy that involves an object in the centre of the room (e.g. a chair, table). The teacher can explain to the students that the object represents an issue (e.g. comfortability with drama) and then the students must pick a spot in the room, relative to the object in the middle, which describes or represents their views, feelings, and/or knowledge of the issue.
Cross-curricular connection: Position mapping could be used in any subject area to gauge student comfortability with a topic. This strategy could also be used to see how well students feel they are understanding the material in a given subject.
