The Creative Process

The Creative Process, within the Ontario Arts Curriculum, outline the stages in which learners go through when creating an art piece. It is a fluid and flexible process and the order in which each stage is experienced can be different for everyone and every art piece. The creative process is meant to be the guiding framework for the entire arts curriculum. Students at times may go through the whole cycle, others they may only experience some stages, or repeat some many times. The use of this process changes depending on the activity being done by the student. It is essential that students are aware of the creative process and the many stages that they may go through when creating an art piece. The teacher is always present throughout this process and is essential to it as well. Teachers help students navigate the process, provide feedback, and prompts thinking and further exploration through observation and questioning.
